Randy has been involved with many ministries over the years but after seeing its impact on the world and the work of its dedicated team, the first organization he has chosen to support is CURE.
“Responding to Jesus’ example of healing the sick and His call to spread the gospel, CURE delivers specialized medical and surgical care to children with correctable physical disabilities in underserved nations around the world. Our teaching hospitals and pediatric specialty programs ? focused on providing care for clubfoot, hydrocephalus, and spina bifida ? currently operate in 27 countries, providing our staff with unique windows of opportunity to pray with, counsel, and share the love of God with the patients, families, and communities we serve.
In many low- and middle-income countries around the world, children with correctable conditions like hydrocephalus, clubfoot, bowed legs, cleft lips/palates, burn contractures, and others have little to no access to quality specialized medical care; but even where it is available, few of the children and families burdened with disabilities have the resources to receive this corrective care. Without treatment, many of these children either will not survive their illness or will face a lifetime of disability, physical pain, shame, or isolation. That’s why CURE exists. CURE operates teaching hospitals in 9 countries and reaches another 18 through its pediatric specialty programs ? CURE Clubfoot and CURE Hydrocephalus & Spina Bifida. The countries where we work consistently rank among the lowest in the world on the United Nations Human Development Index. These countries are home to a total combined population of 2.4 billion people, 955.2 million of whom are children. We estimate that 49.9 million of these children are suffering needlessly from correctable disabilities.
Every day, CURE gives children the opportunity to walk away from our hospitals free from a lifetime of disability. In fiscal year 2018, CURE hospitals performed 16,240 procedures, 17,363 new children were treated at partner clubfoot clinics, and surgeons trained by CURE performed 3,589 surgeries to treat children with hydrocephalus and spina bifida. We have seen God move in the lives of our patients, their families, and their communities and have had the opportunity reach more than 86,000 people with the gospel and witness more than 11,000 expressions of faith in Jesus Christ. CURE continues to faithfully minister to the needs of vulnerable children and their families through the support of friends like you. On behalf of the hundreds of children and families served each year, thank you.” – CURE’s global overview
