Reg has a decorated academic career and is a Distinguished Professor Emeritus at the University of South Carolina. Reg began teaching Physics and Astronomy in 1963. Following that, he went on found SURPASS (Summer University Residential Program for Academically Superior Students), USC’s first program for the Talented and Gifted. After that, he designed the Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies (the largest degree granting program at USC ’72). He went on to become Assistant Provost for Regional Campuses; and later, Chairman of the Department of Child and Family Studies, and later founded the University Center for Children and Families. From 1985-1990, he served as the Chairman of the Department of Media Arts. Through the 90s, he founded the USC HRSM Division of Research (including the Institute for Tourism Research, Center for Retailing, and SC Junior Academy of Sciences) (USC 91-99). Prior to retirement, Reg served as Chairman of the Department of Retailing (2000-2005).
